The Eldar Chronicles

Nasgaroth, Kingdom of the Umbra
Built in the icy Ísvell tundra and snow-locked north of the Keylocke Mountains, Nasgaroth is a kingdom of hunters, mercenaries, and warriors. The harsh winter conditions make it extremely difficult for the people to grow and sustain crops. Most of the kingdom's resources are brought in through trade with other kingdoms.
Validure Castle
Built into the mountainside, this castle is more a fortress. It has a single outer wall that stretches from one side to the other. Large cannons, catapults, and other massive armaments and machines line the parapets. The inner part of the castle is built over natural walls in the mountain to add support to its structure, and can only be reached through the outer wall’s large gate. Because of the varying levels of the mountains, it has the advantage of height over invading forces.
Northcroft
The capital city of the Umbran kingdom. It stands just before the outer wall of Validure Castle. Few of the kingdom’s nobles live here. The kingdom’s main forces, the Chaos Knights, have built their headquarters in the upper part of the city. Its economy is focused largely around weaponry, so there are many smiths and weapon merchants. Many of the kingdom’s mercenaries flock here in search of work.
Kaladel Stronghold
Originally built as a prison to house the kingdom’s worst criminals, the area was altered slightly to also serve as a stronghold to be used only if absolutely necessary. It is large enough to house the kingdom’s entire population, and uses natural mountain walls to fortify itself much like Validure Castle. The parapets are wide enough to fit trebuchets and large cannons. The lower dungeons have thousands of cells where inmates are held. There are also secret tunnels that lead straight to the capital; useful for delivering messages quickly and also for evacuating the kingdom’s populace during wartime.
Leonor
A large city situated along the mountain's southwest slopes. It is close to the Langalí Falls and the Azríll River, sources of water that have become useful in the city’s study of medicine. The city is also the home of the Umbra Trials, a series of games and contests designed to test warriors’ skills on the battlefield. These contests include obstacle courses, duels, archery, knife throwing, horseback riding, wrestling, and much more. The Umbra Trials are held once every thirty years. Because of the number of challengers and warriors that flock here, the city’s economy contains mostly taverns, smithies, and armament shops. There are also training grounds where warriors can train specifically for the trials.
Lunaris Coliseum
The pride and joy of the people of Leonor, the Lunaris Coliseum is a massive structure. Built to hold thousands of people, the coliseum rises up over the mountain slopes. It’s interior is designed with multiple different tracks and obstacle courses. It also has an arena for dueling, wrestling, and archery, either against armed opponents or wild beasts. When not in use, the coliseum is well guarded.
Tamriel
A small city located along the northwest slopes of the Keylocke Mountains. Because of its location, the city cannot grow anything capable of surviving the cold temperatures, and must rely on trade with other cities to get its resources. The city is mostly known for its animal tamers. Large packs of wolves cross through the area, and many have been successfully domesticated. Cut off from the larger, wealthier cities on the northeastern side of the mountains, the people of Tamriel have learned to fend for themselves.

Bromwich
A somewhat large city, Tamriel is home to the kingdom’s merchant guilds. Not many of the other kingdom’s merchants are able to survive the trek through the cold of the Ísvell tundra. As a result, the Umbra have had to send their own merchants out to trade and return with the materials they need. Since the city is located on the southern border, it has easier access to the kingdom’s trade routes. This has caused the city’s economy to skyrocket, making it the wealthiest city in the kingdom.

Cromwell
Built in between the mountainous walls of Hamarr Valley, this city is rather small. It’s defenses are a double-edged sword; there is only one way in and out, so while the natural valley provides a modicum of protection, it also keeps the citizens cornered. However, being surrounded by mountain walls has been beneficial to the city’s economy. Miners have dug out large quarries and mines, and most of the kingdom’s metals and stoneworks are produced here.

Erston
The smallest city of the kingdom, Erston is built atop the southern peak, Mount Alfír. Erston is more isolated than the other cities, however its natural location provides protection from invaders. Scholars study the heavens and practice magic, while merchants travel up and down the mountainside to bring back supplies. Most of the kingdom’s scholars have taken up residence here, making Erston a wellspring of wisdom and knowledge. The kingdom’s history, in its entirety, and lots of other information can be found in the city’s library.
