Born from an infusion of the magical blood-essence of Dragons into their very beings, the Elaris are a proud race known for their deep connection with the Dragons. The Elaris are a descended race, meaning at one point in history they were transformed into what they are now. No records remain of their ancestors, the Solari, other than ancient legends and myths of their encounters and relations with the Dragons. Born with a natural talent for the arcane arts, magic seems to run through their veins as easily as the Dragon blood that courses within their bodies.

An Elaris’ outward appearance is nearly identical to a Human’s, with their ears being only slightly sharper and more prominent, though less so than the ears of a Sylvan. They are tall and strongly built, often standing anywhere from 5 feet to close to 61/2 feet tall and weighing 155 to 250 pounds. An Elaris comes of age during their early-teens, and is capable of living a little under two centuries. So attuned with the natural and arcane worlds, the Elaris are each born with a type of elemental semblance. While they live under a single banner and identity, many of the Elaris have taken to labeling themselves based on whatever elemental semblance they inherit, dividing them into organized elemental clans spread throughout the various different regions and ecosystems of west-central Eldar. The Elaris respect the natural world, and will not tolerate those who show it disrespect.

Elaris owe their devotion and respect to their kingdom and to the Dragon Gods above all else. Each Elaris' conduct reflects on the honor of the entire race, and bringing dishonor can result in expulsion and exile. A continual drive for self-improvement reflects the self-sufficiency of the race as a whole. Elaris value skill and excellence in all endeavors. They hate to fail, and they push themselves to extreme efforts before they give up on something. An Elaris holds mastery of a particular skill as a lifetime goal. Though all Elaris strive to be self-sufficient, they recognize that help is sometimes needed in difficult situations. More often the Elaris will consider the best source of help to be from the Dragon Gods, and when an Elaris needs aid, it will turn to worship and prayer of the Dragon Gods for guidance before seeking help from other races.

The economy of the Elaris focuses mostly on magical research and the arcane arts, though there are traces of more mundane professions spread throughout the various clans, such as agriculture, smithing, education and literature, and mining. Many who venture outside the kingdom will use their powers to aid others in exchange for coin, or seek out rare artifacts from other lands to bring back for the glory of the kingdom. Those who remain within the kingdom’s borders use magic for everything, including growing crops, crafting objects, and continuing their research. Some Elaris become merchants and inventors, creating strange objects with magical properties or trading whatever magical trinkets they have, while others barter for even rarer objects.
