The Third Age

1400 B.B.

2100 A.B.

B.B.=Before Betrayal

A. B.=After Betrayal

B.B. = Before Betrayal

A. B. = After Betrayal

After seven hundred years of wars and death and disease, peace seemed to have been restored. However, this newfound peace did not last long.

Aelvac, the Dragon God of Shadow, continued his onslaught. Still angered that the very things he helped to create only hated and feared him, unlike his fellow Dragon Gods, who were adored and worshipped, he set his next set of plans into motion. This newfound jealousy and rage sent Aelvac into a destructive state of mind. Aelvac came to the conclusion that the races of Eldar were unfit to continue their menial existence, and so he planned to wipe them out and rebuild Eldar from scratch, exactly the way he wanted it.

Calling upon the darkest magic, Aelvac used the first one hundred years creating a whole new race he named "Forsaken". They were hideous hordes of monsters and devils, gifted with dark magic. Considered unholy, the Forsaken would be Aelvac's dark army for his invasion and destruction of Eldar.

To keep his fellow Dragon Gods oblivious to his actions, Aelvac spent the remaining six hundred years causing chaos and starting wars between the races of Eldar, all the while continuing to build up his army.

The Eldar Annals (a collection of documents and records kept for historical purposes) speak of dozens of wars, some large-scale massacres, others small skirmishes. Of the many mentioned, these three are considered among the most blood-stained and important for the Third Age, changing the history of Eldar forever.

The first was known as the Keylocke War. The Terrans, Uldra, and Caprans all shared the Keylocke Mountains as their living space. However the Uldra and the Caprans each sought to expand their territories, and the Terrans stood in their way. Uniting under the Black Beast Pact, the Uldra and the Caprans joined forces and declared war on the Terrans in the year 1726 B.B., seeking to eliminate them and take the rest of the mountains for themselves. There were many casualties. However, the Uldra and the Caprans could not overtake the Terran's Mythril Fortress, a fortress wall that spanned the entire perimeter of the kingdom. Eventually their numbers fell, and they were forced back into their respective homelands in the year 1784 B.B.. Both the Uldra and the Caprans blamed the other for their misfortune, resulting in bad blood between the two races that would last for many centuries.

The truth is, Aelvac secretly spread lies into the minds of the Caprans and the Uldra to make them attack the Terrans.

The second was known as the Cait Aeris War (or more commonly known as the Ketani Airship War). The Third Age was an age of invention and industrial revolution. Among the races most famous for their inventions were the Ketani. The war started when rumors began to spread that the Ketani were developing a device that would enable them to fly. Seeing the military potential for such a device, the other races attempted to steal the blueprints of this device around the year 1892 B.B.. The Wind Draycari, having partnered with the Ketani to aid them with their invention, defended the Ketani's honor. Normally, the Ketani would sell their inventions to other races for profit; it is how they made a living. However the Ketani knew that if their latest invention was sold, it would only cause destruction. So, the Ketani chose to unveil their invention by using it to defend their home. The first airship, the Clawsharp Lioness, took flight, and drove the other races back. The war was entirely one sided, with the Ketani dominating the other races. The war ended in the year 1917 B.B., and the Cait Sith Treaty was signed to ensure that only the Ketani would have mastery over the airships.

Aelvac did the same in this war as he had done in the Keylocke War. He whispered lies and instilled jealousy and greed in the hearts and minds of those who sought the power of the Ketani's new airship technology.

The third was the Human Civil War. The Humans were a diverse race, and their current King was a tyrant. Taxes and poor living conditions sparked a revolution amongst the Humans. The war began in the year 2037 B.B.. The wealthy were despised, and the poor had grown tired of living in the shambles of lower Human society. It is said a young farmer named Jared Halberd inspired the poor to take up arms. The two opposing sides, the Rebels and the Nobles, fought in bloody conflict for many years, and through a variety of ways: boycott of goods, protest marches, even actual battles resulting in bloodshed and death. Eventually, the tyrant king was overthrown, and when the Humans sought a new King, they chose none other than Jared Halberd. The Rebels and the Nobles signed the Eternity Treaty in the year 2042 B.B., vowing to keep the Human race united as one for all time.

Aelvac, being the master of lies that he is, again used his powers to influence the tyrant king, possessing him and purposely harming the poorer Humans to spark the beginning of the war.

After many years, divided between war and peace, the day finally arrived when Aelvac was ready. On the coldest day of Winter, (Day 21, Month 12, Year 2097 B.B., Aelvac betrayed his fellow Dragon Gods and the races of Eldar. He marched his armies into Eldar, destroying everything in his wake. This was the beginning of the longest, and darkest chapter in Eldar's history. (Every subsequent year following this one became A.B., meaning after the betrayal of Aelvac.)
