Humans

Humans are considered the youngest of the races of Eldar. They are short-lived in comparison to the other inhabitants of the world. Perhaps it is because of their shorter lives that they strive to achieve as much as they can in the years they are given. Or maybe they feel they have something to prove, and that is why they built grand cities and vast trade networks across the many hills and plains of the east-central region. Whatever drives them, Humans are among the innovators, the achievers, and the pioneers of the world.

Humans reach adulthood in their late teens and rarely live even a single century. More physically diverse than other races, there is no typical Human. An individual can stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds. Human skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, and hair colors from black to blond. Males grow more hair on their faces and bodies than females. Eye colors range all across the color spectrum. They dress in whatever they are able to fashion with the materials they have on hand, preferring tunics, leggings, coats, and robes made from cloth, leather, and wool. They speak using the Human language, which consists of 26 characters used to form words, descriptions, and ideas. Due to its versatility and ease of use, the Human language has become the common tongue in Eldar.

Humans are the most adaptable and ambitious people. They have widely varying tastes, morals, and customs. The cities they have built were designed to last ages, and their great kingdom has lasted for millennia. An individual Human might have a relatively short lifespan, but the Human kingdom and culture preserves traditions with origins far beyond the reach of any single Human’s memory. They live fully in the present, but also plan for the future, striving to leave a lasting legacy. Individually and as a group, Humans are adaptable opportunists, and they stay alert to changing political and social dynamics.

Humans tend to create small communities to achieve their goals, often forming sacred orders and institutions specifically designed for each goal. Like many of the other races, Humans build temples, libraries, and codes of law that fix their traditions in the bedrock of history. Many Humans seek to be immortalized in history for their great feats and achievements. They seek glory, power, wealth, and fame.

As workers, Humans have an almost unlimited number of professions and means by which to make a living. Some are farmers or herdsmen, raising large plantations containing domesticated animals or a wide variety of crops. Some work with their hands as hunters, builders, or warriors, defending the kingdom by giving it what it needs: food and supplies, homes for its people, stronger foundations, and a vast army to defend its borders. Yet other Humans work with their minds as different kinds of scholars, bankers, and merchants.

Humans are easily fascinated with the world of magic, and there was once a time when they were born with the innate ability to wield such power. These Humans were called Druids. However, it has been millennia since a Druid last walked the lands, for none have existed since that time. The majority of the kingdom’s populace prefer the quiet, simple life, avoiding conflicts and keeping to themselves.
